Keeping up with creating videos every week can be exhausting and lead to burnout. However, there are ways to avoid this, and today I want to share one project anyone can do with just a little bit of planning: batch creating videos. As a content producer, I love helping other creators get started on their content creation journey, and batch creating is one of my favorite strategies.
Why Batch Create?
Batch creating content has numerous benefits:
1. Efficiency: By focusing on creating multiple videos at once, you eliminate the time and energy spent switching between tasks.
2. Cohesiveness: Filming multiple videos in one go helps maintain a consistent brand image.
3. Flexibility: With content ready ahead of time, you can adjust your posting schedule if inspiration strikes.
Planning Your Batch Creation
Planning is crucial for successful batch creation. Here's a step-by-step guide to get you started:
1. Set Clear Goals: Determine what you want to achieve with your batch creation. For example, aim to create four videos in one filming session.
2. Script and Plan: Fully script your videos, plan out locations, outfits, and any visual elements.
3. Prepare Equipment: Ensure you have enough storage, batteries, and any necessary equipment ready for a full day of filming.
4. Schedule Filming: Choose a day with minimal distractions to dedicate to filming your videos.
Overcoming Challenges
Batch creating isn't without its challenges:
1. Time-Consuming Planning: The initial planning phase can be lengthy.
2. Monotony: Working on the same task repeatedly can become tedious.
3. Storage Management: Filming a lot at once requires managing storage effectively.
Is Batch Creating Right for You?
Batch creating is great if you need to focus on other aspects of your business, feel burnt out, or want to maintain an active content schedule during vacations. However, it's also okay to take breaks when needed. If you're just starting out, try to avoid breaks in the first three months by batch creating some content to stay ahead.
You should also consider the content ideas you are trying to make. Prioritize evergreen content for batch creating over things like trends. These are videos that remain relevant over a long period, unlike trend-specific content that can quickly become outdated. For example, "Spring Fashion Trends 2024" is only relevant for a short time, while "How to Build a Capsule Wardrobe" can be useful year-round.
Before You Batch
Before diving into batch creating, understand your video process. Know how long each step takes and whether you need to film at specific times or locations. Consider outsourcing tasks like graphics or thumbnails if needed.
For your first batch creation project, work backward from your end goal. Figure out how many videos you want to make, then plan out ideas, scripts, outfits, and locations. Find your day to set aside for filming and schedule your posts accordingly.
Batch creating can take a few weeks to complete, but it makes future content creation much more manageable, allowing you to focus on other goals or take a well-deserved break. Remember, this approach is generalized, so tailor it to fit your specific needs and content style.
