Starting your journey as a content creator can be overwhelming, especially with all the advice out there. One common piece of advice is to "post consistently." But what does that actually mean, and how do you achieve consistency?

In today's blog, we'll walk through three steps to help you get started on your path to becoming a successful content creator.

Step 1: Pre-Work Essentials

Before diving into content creation, it's essential to do some groundwork.

Here are the key tasks:

- Identify Your Goals: Write down your content creation goals and why you are pursuing them. This will keep you focused and motivated.

- Define Your Ideal Client Avatar (ICA): Knowing your target audience is crucial. Define who you are creating content for and what they need.

- Determine Your Content Pillars: These are the main topics or themes you will focus on. Having clear content pillars will make planning and creating content much easier.

Step 2: Create a Schedule

A content schedule is vital for consistency.

Consider these tips to create one:

- Consider Your Lifestyle: Your schedule should fit your daily and weekly routine to be sustainable.

- Plan Your Posts: Decide how often you want to post and the types of content you'll create. Balance simple content that’s easy to make, with original content that might require a little more effort.

Step 3: Implement and Adapt

Now that you have a schedule, it's time to implement it. But always be prepared to adapt as needed!

- Start with a Baseline Schedule: Begin with a manageable posting schedule, such as 1 to 2 simple videos and daily story posts.

- Adjust Based on Goals: Depending on your goals, you might need a different schedule. For example, if you're aiming for growth and visibility, you might post daily.

- Prioritize and Plan: Break down your tasks into manageable chunks. Prioritize your most significant tasks, like creating YouTube videos, and I personally love to batch-create content when possible.

Creating Different Types of Content

Understanding the different types of content you’ll create will help in planning and execution:

- Simple Content: These are quick and easy to produce, such as hopping on a trend or using existing footage.

- Original Content: This takes more time and effort to create, from planning and filming to editing.

- Weekly Niche Videos: Regularly scheduled videos focused on your main audience.

- Vlog or Journal Videos: More personal and less polished, these videos help you connect with your audience on a deeper level.

Posting Schedules Examples

Here are three examples of posting schedules based on different goals:

1. Building Consistency and Algorithm Trust:

Post three simple reels/shorts, one niche-specific YouTube video, and 3-5 daily story posts each week.

2. Establishing Authority:

Post two to three original short videos, one simple reel, one niche-specific YouTube video, and 3-5 daily story posts each week.

3. Expanding Reach and Going Viral:

Post daily, including three original reels, two simple reels, one niche-specific YouTube video, and 3-5 daily story posts.

Creating a content schedule that works for you is about balancing your goals with your lifestyle. Start with a baseline, adapt as needed, and always prioritize tasks to stay on track.
